Week of May 29th
English In English, students are working on their final project. Please visit the final exam tab to learn more about this project. This week we will be finishing our unit on commas. Students will have a comma test on Wednesday. Students should be studying lessons 13 - 15 vocabulary words and definitions for the final exam. There will not be a spelling portion of this test. History - NOT UPDATED We have an exam on Friday. Students should be studying their homework assignments to help prepare them for this exam. Please see this page for help studying. We are continuing our studies of the Holocaust and Human Behavior. This unit focuses on the action and inactions of those involved in this atrocity. More holistically, this is a study of ourselves. We will discuss stereotypes, identity, and bystanders. During this past week, a startling study conducted by the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany reported this week that 41 percent of Americans and 66 percent of millennials say they don't know about the Auschwitz death camp. Forty-one percent of millennials believe 2 million or fewer Jews were killed in the Holocaust. It was 6 million. And 22 percent of millennials say they haven't even heard of the Holocaust. Journalism This week we are continuing our new elective course. Students will still have Music every other day with Mr. B. In place of Art, students will begin creating the Madison Memory Archive. Students are going to select someone within their own community to interview. Students will be using Chromebooks in class to transcribe these interviews. We will then transform these interviews into narrative profiles. Over the next trimester, students will be practicing their grammar, writing, speaking, and listening skills. We will be using new devices and the Google Classroom. There may be some technical glitches. Please be patient with me as we develop this program. If there are any problems, please send an e-mail to me. Students will not be held accountable for unforeseeable technology problems. :-) |
